New Technology May Offer Patients Less Invasive Treatment Options

September 2008 (Medialink) - More and more cancer patients are looking for treatment options that allow them to maintain their quality of life during difficult treatment regimens.

Philips Research is developing a new ultrasound-based drug delivery technology designed to increase the effectiveness and reduce the side effects of chemotherapy treatment for certain types of cancer. The system proposes the use of drug-loaded microbubbles, no larger than red blood cells, that can be injected into the patient's bloodstream, tracked via ultrasound imaging and then ruptured by a focused ultrasound pulse to release their drug payload when they reach the desired spot. Because the drugs would only be released at the site of the diseased tissue, the patient's total body exposure to them could be limited.

Researchers say pre-clinical studies have shown the treatment to have the potential to reduce negative side effects in chemotherapy procedures. By avoiding these side effects associated with traditional therapies, these interventions could increase patient comfort and result in faster recovery.

ok so im not exactly sure why my last post is white lol. ok so its october i love the FALL! im trying to convince my sister to be the joker and i could do her make up for holloween! im also taking 3 classes at MC, i like them,especially my child ed class. im also going to start going to my old high school to observe the children in the child dev class. im still at best buy, but i got offered a new job to be a NANNY! the lady that i babysit for wants me to replace her nanny yesss. i love that kid! im planning my whole october. im soo buzy, but i know nevember will go smoother after the 31. My parents decided to move again by jANUARY, im not sure where yet. in relationship...well im doing well, ive met very interesting guys. but not one to call boyfriend yet. im just focusing on school. i realized maybe instead of teacheing i can open up my own daycare school after i get my bachelours....more money and i would love to do it with my friend peaches =). the dream came when i was just chilling with her and herl ittle girl gabbi. whos my god daughter ... im glad i got to hang and see more of my close friends now. all you need is to make time ! ugh but for bad new i got a ticket passing a red ligh on twinbrook going to rockville ugh...i couldnt stop i was goihng 25mph!!! so i have to pay 75$ great...economy is going bad and i got to worry about a ticket =P . so this month .. i must go to a pumpkin patch with the kids,go to the club at least twice to just have fun. prepare my mom and my BFF's bday. plan a trip to new jersey to see my other BF and her prego self lol. Pass my midterms and be a little more responsible handling my money. i got to also learn new recipes to cook and find a costume pronto! all and all im very proud of my smart little sister !! OH AND DID I MENTION I PASSED OUT ON GOING TO A REDSKINS GAME JUST TO GO TO WORK! YES I HATE MY SELF TOO AND THEY WERE FREE TICKETS. i got invited to go...free charter bus and breakfast  with the richfolks lol i love the lady i babysit for...my sister got to go. shows how dedicated and dumb i am to go to best buy instead of A REDSKINS GAME !!! which we won =)

I bought some new amethysts since mine still hasnt recovered...I had a massive migraine again today, and so now I have ANOTHER black amethyst.

So I did a money spell last night. It was the first time in YEARS that I actively did so. I had my husband help. I had to use the bathroom to cast, but it was fine. It was actually eerie. You could feel the magic in there. For the spell I used 2 green candles and a coin of high demonination.

That was the strange part - the coin. I had planned on using a quarter as that was the highest I had, but then my hunny came home with not 1 but 2 gold dollars. The spell was meant to be.

So we cast last night, and now we wait.

We went to his bosses house to do some work this morning (2 hrs) and he made $100. That went to grocery shopping.  that was $179.

So Disco did a runes and tarot readng for me last night and this is what she said, along with the fact that I should get some additional input:

It is an irresponsible, "young" demon that enjoys breaking up things. It seems to believe that any problems it creates can be solved by pointing them out in an argumentative setting, so it tries to create an environment where its victims are led to believe that the only way out of their problems is to approach them in a peaceable manner. (ie. It wants to be in control of its victims' anger. If its victims find their own reasons to be angry, it will lose its power over them.) It was born from a sense of nonobjectiveness and prejudice, possibly from a father figure (your husband). The near future appears to be a period of needful rest and recuperation, possibly after a time of great strife (dunno who this is for, you or the demon. If you make it yours, then the demon might experience a different future?). Its main ambition is to create a broken family. Its influence comes from its victims focusing on mundane, worldly manners (stock market, blah!!!). It gets its strength from the imbalance caused by selfishness (I often forget that in magickal work, sometimes I have to "prime the pump", so to speak, to get the energies moving in the direction I want them to go; if I'm hoping to earn more money, in my wish for money I have to give some away). It appears to be getting help or aid from material possessions such as family heirlooms (dunno exactly what this means; might it be attached to some object in your house?). The Hopes/Fears part confuses me: it came up as loss of youthfulness and inner light (dunno if this is a hope or a fear, maybe a hope for you and a fear for itself?). The final outcome for its endeavors is a lack of desire to speak out, or perhaps a dumb, silent, uninspired woman.

 I'm not very good at tarot, so you can take this reading (or both of them, if you want) and present them to any others you know who do tarot or runes, and see what they get out of it. In fact, I recommend you do so, because it's always good to get a second, third, or even fourth opinion on important matters like this.

If you guessed Jacko, you're wrong. It's the master of disguise and Cheetos, Brit Brit Spears! Brit fooled the zillions of pappies waiting for her at LAX yesterday by wearing a ruffled blanky or some ****. And by "fooled" I mean they knew it was her all along. The strong scent of processed cheese, coffee dust and flea caca probably gave it away.

It looks like Brit's back to being on the paps' most wanted list. They act like they've never seen a hillbilly in a homemade Casper the Friendly Ghost costume. Seriously. It's just Brit!

And I must say that I do like this blanket over the head look. It covers up the possum's nest on her head.

Well, here is my crack at the MM9 fan contest. In the interest of keeping this as brief as possible, I'll get right into it. Note I divided my reasoning as to why I'm the biggest baddest Mega Man fan on the planet into the following points with evidence when possible.

 

1. I have an intense collection that began back in 1989 with MM2.

 

Feast your eyes on a snapshot of just SOME of my Mega Man goodies. As you can see, I have been a longtime loyal and dedicated fan.

 

2. I buy multi-platform releases on all systems.

 

I do this for two reasons. First, I'm so hardcore, I must know which version is the best so I have the most outstanding possible experience. Second, I want to know I did all I could to increase sales figures. Every little bit helps ya know >_>

 

3. I own and ENJOY Mega Man Soccer

 

Do I need to say anything else?

 

4. I own Mega Man games for systems I don't even own.

 

I've never owned a Saturn, and I no longer have a PSP. However, when I sold that failure of a handheld, I kept two very priceless games because they were simply phenomenal. They are a part of the collection.

 

5. I'm so paranoid about something happening to my precious Mega Man games, I buy multiple copies.

Yes, those are 3 copies of the Limited Edition Mega Man 8, and yes, they ALL contain anthology booklets. I know, I'm a brat.

 

6. I used to work for/run a well known Mega Man fansite

 

Many of you probably know me from MMN. For those who don't, it is a popular mainstream fansite that I used to work at. I was briefly the interim site admin until the current site admin, and colleague of mine LBD_Nytetrayn, was ready to take over. Seriously, if you don't know what I'm talking about, then you probably aren't that big of a Mega Man fan =P.

 

Also, props and a shout out to LBD and his team for making MMN even more awesome than I ever could have envisioned! It is remarkable to see what you guys have done with the site!!!!

 

7. I named my pets after Mega Man characters.

 

Yes its true.

 

Meet Rush (my sister's dog, but I named him!)

 

And meet Tango…she is 10 years old!

 

Yes people, be awed.

 

8. I dumped a girlfriend over Mega Man

 

Back in 2004, I spent two weeks at a flight academy. I arrived home on the day Mega Man Anniversary Collection hit the streets. I got the PS2 version, and was in awe over the remixed soundtracks, and the overall perfectness of the compilation. I couldn't put it down. My girlfriend continuously kept calling me, but I ignored the calls, as I was enjoying MMAC. After a few hours, she arrived on my doorstep.

 

She proceeded to bitch at me for not calling her back to which I said, "I'm going to play my game now". She followed me to the TV and then chided me for playing some "stupid old game with a boy in his blue underwear". That was it. I yelled for her to get out and never disturb me again for any reason. Never heard from her again.

 

…Ok, so there were other issues in the relationship besides a video game, but the bottom line is I dumped her over Mega Man in the end.

 

9. I craftfully, and immorally obtained Mega Man 7

 

For those who don't know the background story, Mega Man 7 is one of the rarest titles. It was not expected to sell well, so it was given a limited release. This made it painfully rare. It was 1995, I was 10 years old, and rented the game from my local blockbuster. I fell in love with it, and had to own it, but I soon learned how rare MM7 was through a posting on Nintendo Power's AOL site. I had to take action. Fast.

 

So what did this clever 10 year old boy do?

 

*RING RING*

Manager: "Hello, Blockbuster Video"

Me: "Hellwo! I rented Mega Man 7 from you, and I lost it"

[I swear this was her response] Manager: "OH MY GOD THAT WAS OUR ONLY COPY!!!"

Me: "….I'm so sorwy, I didn't mean to do it on purpose"

Manager: "…its ok, look for it, but if you can't find it you'll have to pay for it ok?"

Me: "Ok…I'm sorrwy, I'll go see if I can find it ok?"

Manager: "Ok, call me back and let me know, my name is [can't remember]"

Me: "Ok, bye bye"

Manager: "ok bye"

*CLICK*

Me: >=)

 

I shelled out $70, which was almost all my yearly allowance/savings, but it was worth it. Sooo…not bad for a 10 year old huh??? =D The game still sits proudly next to my SNES to this very day.

 

Oh yea, and if you worked as a manager at a Blockbuster Store in Newnan, GA in 1995, just understand that you were owned by a elementary school kid!!

 

10. Mega Man 9 is the only PS3 game I own.

 

I use my PS3 for Blu-Ray movies, and MM9…that’s it!

11. I've used Mega Man to relieve stress for military comrades.

 

Back when the Mega Man X Collection came out, I bought several copies, and sent them to buddies serving in Afghanistan and Iraq whom I knew had PS2s in their barracks. It was an instant hit, and they all thanked me for sending the compilations their way. One guy said that it was nice to feel the comfort and memories of older days, especially in a warzone.

 

This should also go to show how heartfelt Mega Man is by some fans. Even in a terrible situation, it can bring happiness, which brings me to my next point…

 

12. I will use Mega Man to unwind after a hard day.

 

Nothing warms the soul like a Sam Adams, and MMAC (although its been more MM9 recently). Seriously, in times such as these, its nice to remember how simple things are, and to take pleasure in the small/enjoyable things that life has to offer. Mega Man helps me keep that in perspective.

 

13. I blare the Mega Man 9 soundtrack on my pimped out car stereo

 

You haven't experienced the true force of modern sound technology until you blast a 4-bit midi track while cruising through Atlanta. Give it a try sometime it is really awesome.
